Sharing Ideas On PhilNavs Finances from CebuNavs E-group

CEBUNAV ALUMNI SHARE THEIR OPINION

NavAlumni from Cebu initiated a discussion on finances of the PhilNavs and ended up with the survey on the perception not only on finances but on the PhilNavs itself and its staffs.

This is a good indication that our alumni are now wanting to partner with us in the ministry. This may not be a representative of the whole alumni but definitely this is worth considering.

I posted here their responses as is, and its up to you how you would interpret them. The discussion is still on going and I will be posting important developments. I personally sense that our alumni is now ready to play a bigger role in the ministry that God has entrusted to us.

For the staff and the leadership there are definitely lessons we can pick-up from our alumni...

Personal Comments on the Results

I. Profile of the Respondents in Relation to Navs.

A. Nav Involvement

1. How Long have you been involve with the Navs?
There are about 170 members of the CebuNavs egroup for various reasons many only enjoy reading rather than posting. Only 28 alumni joined the survey and I guess these are the same people who are involved in the discussion. Most of them have been in the Navs for more than 10 years (68%). So I would conclude that these are the people who would like to have a meaningful involvement with the Navs and Nav Work...

Imagine 28 alumni from Cebu alone who would be willing to get involve.. if God can use 1 man, Jesus trained twelved, 28 for me is a big number and could accomplish a lot. So I would never discount this survey.

2. At what stage of your life were you contacted by the Navs?

There are 25 out of 28 who answered this, and its amazing to to note that 88% of them came from the campus. For me, it's telling us that those who were contacted from the campuses are still the backbone of our ministry. This is probably because of the long time that we were together. As we pursue Small Biblical community, our alumni from the campus will continue to play a big role because they are Navigators. So let us not lie low in our campus ministry, this is still our niche and I believe God has given us the campus horizon to expand His Kingdom. How do we integrate this in our pursuit of SBCs? I think Los Banos is doing a certain model. Cebu has a different model, but campus should still be in the center of our ministry.

3. Who introduce you to the Navs?

It showed that these people came to the Navs from different channels, from classmates, friends, staff and relatives. The Staff only ranked third in terms of contacting these people. Classmates and relatives did most of the introduction. This is understandable because the staff usually is the one doing the follow-up. Their contacts are the ones recruiting their classmates to attend or come to a BS.

4. What Nav activities were you involved in (multiple answers allowed)?

The respondents put fellowship at the top, this I supposed was the kind of fellowship that we used to do, lowest is community meeting (the SBC kind of meeting). This is understandable because we have just recently started SBC. Amazing to note that many of them have attended trainings/conferences, lead BS and some are even in the ministry leadership. This tells us that these are really the people that we can listen to.
